Floating Office Rotterdam

 - Jakob Schoof

Constructions with limited use life span should be built in a way that enables easy demolition and reuse of components. It is seldom the case that they can be completely relocated to a new site. The Floating Office Rotterdam in the city's harbour is capable of both. The new, three storey floating structure was designed by the architectural office Powerhouse Company. RED Company, a firm created by Powerhouse co-founder Nanne de Ru in 2015, is the project developer and owner, all in one. Both enterprises occupy the first floor and part of the "ground" floor above the waterline. The second floor serves as the headquarters of the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), founded in 2018 with the purpose of promoting solutions for climate change adaptation across the world.
