El Roser Social Centre in Catalonia

 - Sabine Drey

The prison in Reus near Tarragona, which was built in 1929 and is today a listed building, already underwent an astonishing metamorphosis in 1979. Back then, it was redesigned to serve as a children's day care centre. After standing empty for several years, it has recently been replanned yet again. This time the complex was transformed into a social centre that fulfils several functions. As well as benefitting people with social needs, it is intended that this facility should also be used by residents of the neighbourhood.
