From 2016 to 2021, following many years of vacancy, one of the most important highrise buildings of German postwar modernism was revitalised and converted into a hotel. The twelve storey structure was built from 1959 to 1962 according to plans by Paul Schneider-Esleben in the banking district of Düsseldorf, complementing the German Commerzbank headquarters. In 1998 it was added to the historic preservation list, based on its raised shell construction and its innovative curtain wall facade. The latter is considered Germany's first prefabricated element highrise facade. In 2021, the Ruby Group of hotels opened the Hotel Ruby Luna here with 206 suites.
