Funeral Chapel in Ingelheim

At the entrance to this interdenominational cemetery stands the new funeral chapel, the rubble-stone walls of which take up the concept of the existing architecture. In a roughly square concrete roof slab extending over the complex, openings have been formed around three courtyards of different dimensions in such a way that covered gallery zones were created in certain areas. Over a fourth opening is a striking double-pitched roof that identifies the chapel as the central sacred realm. Via a large entrance court and a vestibule, visitors have access to a timber-panelled space where they can take leave of the dead.
