Discussion: Places of Learning and Living - Requirements for Modern Full-Time Schools

On the noticeboard of a German school, one might read: "Full-time (school) takes place from 1.30 p.m to 4 p.m. in the annex", a statement that reveals a strange confusion of terms. The school is one where the educational input is clearly divided into two parts - mornings and afternoons. "Full-time", in this case, means an additional offer, made largely by extracurricular providers and meant to allow children to spend the whole day at school under supervision.
