Reports: Structures for Pleasure

Nowadays, architects and structural planners work much more closely and collegially together than they did in the past. This is testified by various schemes, like that developed at the California Polytechnic State University, where the students wanted to create a comfortable environment for browsing (ills. 1, 2). They agreed upon a suspended structure made from plastic sheeting, which is reasonable in price, light in weight, capable of bearing loads and also simple to work. After cutting the sheets into strips, these were woven into networks, which are used as places for reading, and as a lounge and meeting point.
