Seventy years after the destruction caused by the Second World War, Frankfurt is to acquire a new historic district called DomRömer. Thirty-five town houses with pointed gables, slated roofs, sandstone fronts and half-timbered facades are to be erected on the site of the former Technische Rathaus or townhall. Fifteen of these houses are reconstructions of the buildings that stood here before the War; the remaining twenty are contemporary reinterpretations of historical building typologies.
