Technology: Strong, long lasting, energy efficient - addressing future needs with concrete

At the moment, new global challenges are determining the parameters of construction. This applies to all areas, and not least of all, to building materials. Thus, simply taking into consideration a building material's technical attributes is no longer sufficient to evaluate its fitness for the future. Contemporary solutions - aside from being verifiably sustainable and ecologically sound fabrication and application - must contribute to a building's energy efficiency and lead to economical, intelligent solutions. The characteristics of concrete - probably the most important heavyweight building material in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries - can be purposefully employed to attain such goals.
