Discussion: Tallinn - Mozart Requiem in a Wood-Pulp Factory

Over the last 10 years, Tallinn has developed quickly and consistently. The new political system allows free competition, and so is strengthening economic growth. Estonia's economic success is also being reflected in the architecture. High-rise buildings, like the Union Bank (Architect: Raivo Puusepp) or the Radisson SAS Hotel, reach up to the sky. The City Plaza also contributes to the city's new skyline. For a few years now, Tallinn, Estonia's capital, has been wearing a new face. Nevertheless, to keep the high-flying dreams of properly speculators from getting totally out of proportion, the guardians of historic monuments have hurried to set some boundaries: today, for instance, no buildings in the main part of the city are allowed to be higher than the 124 metre tower of the medieval church of St. Olaf.
