The new China Central Television headquarters (CCTV), is among the most spectacular - and most controversial - projects in China. With a gross floor area of 465 000 m2, it is one of the world's largest buildings. CCTV - as state-run television, an instrument of the Chinese government - will be capable of broadcasting about 270 channels.
