Technology: Jointing as a Design Element

Steel comes in the form of partly fabricated units that are then joined together in the workshop or on site. To avoid extensive site work, account has to be taken of the nature and execution of the connections at the design stage. As a result, jointing becomes a significant aspect of the design process and can be consciously exploited as such.
