Research and practice: recycling-friendly construction in practice
Almost 60 % of the total waste produced in Germany is generated by the construction sector. At the same time well over half of raw materials are utilised for the production of buildings and infrastructure projects. Whilst other fields, like the automobile or electronics industries, already face strict regulation in relation to the recyclability of their products (and have developed appropriate solutions), in the building industry the use of recycling-friendly materials and construction methods is only just beginning. The building sector, in particular, with its enormous use of materials, represents great potential for optimisation of the efficient use of resources.
