The digitalSTROM chip is the first high-voltage chip worldwide to be connected directly to the 230 V mains. Just one component makes an appliance network-capable. The supply unit and the processor are integrated into the chip. It offers more than 40 different functions, communicating within an electrical circuit via the digitalSTROM meter, installed in the fuse box beside the existing circuit breakers. Meters can communicate with each other via a standardised protocol and provide access to the Internet via the digitalSTROM server, also mounted on the rail. The current version of digitalSTROM reduces stand-by consumption from an average of 3 to 5 Watts to below 0.3 watts. Further reductions are planned. In addition to detailed, device-specific power consumption data, it also enables smart metering. digitalSTROM is an open standard. Anyone can develop their own application, build their own device or offer their own services.
