Technology: Fire Protection in Hybrid Forms of Construction with Non-Load-Bearing Timber Facade Elements

Timber construction is increasingly to be found in urban contexts. The advantages are obvious. As a regrowable raw material, wood has a neutral CO2 balance, and its low dead weight allows savings to be made in the load-bearing structure. In addition, in the case of low-energy buildings, where facades with a high degree of insulation are necessary, the overall wall thickness can be reduced by placing the insulating layers between the members of the timber frame.
