For the last six years, Atelier Grande's Julian Dostmann has been designing and planning South Korean outdoor clothing company BlackYak's trade fair presence. In 2019 the brand's exhibition stand is composed of a reticular, polygonal structure made up of 297 light rods and recreates an abstract mountain landscape that lines the entire space. It leans against a 5 m-tall rear wall forming a relief-style lighting backdrop and becomes a three-dimensional light sculpture on the two open sides of the booth. In the middle there's a generous accessible communication area, which can be used in many ways thanks to free-standing furniture. From here the visitor gets a panoramic overview of a streamlined selection of products carefully positioned within and in front of the light installation. A bar counter with additional seating is location in front of the closed side-wall. Behind it are located four hidden meeting and negotiation rooms as well as storage and technical areas. Using multi-coloured LED light rods that can be individually controlled, the architects have implemented an exciting and detailed lighting concept. The alternating multi-hued light serves both the product presentation and the spatial design.
