Foundation Centre in Berlin

Concrete in rusty red, brick of the same hue, and colourful recycling clinker structure the facades of the dual building ensemble by AFF Architekten on Berlin's Herrmannstrasse. The client behind the project is the Schöpflin Foundation. In recent years they created two initiatives and handed over the two structures to them. The Spore Initiative is dedicated to exhibitions and events on global biocultural diversity. For this purpose, the volume features a large auditorium on the ground floor, two exhibition spaces on the first floor and a library on the second floor. It also contains offices and two guest apartments for artists.
