Storm about teacups: The Portal of awareness by Rojkind Arquitectos.

As an architectural intervention in a Mexico City street it is tasteful, and …hot! I am sure the promoters Nescafé will consider this a good analogy for their coffee products.

The innovative structure was created by Rojkind Arquitectos to demonstrate that everyday ordinary objects can become art. It is installed on a the busy Paseo de la Reforma an important street in the city.

The installation uses 1500 coffee mugs to decorate a simple steel re-bar grid-shell structure. The mugs are coloured to give a sense of movement when passing beneath the structure.

Nescafé commissioned eight artists to develop specific installations utilizing a maximum of 1500 metal coffee mugs.

Gratitude to eyesin for drawing my attention to this project.
