Bernardo Bader

After completing his studies at the University of Innsbruck, Bernardo Bader launched his own architectural firm in Dornbirn in 2003. A native of Vorarlberg in Austria, the architect and civil engineer was awarded the Aga Khan Award in 2013 for his thoughtfully designed and constructed buildings. Since 2008, he has held various positions as a lecturer and design consultant in Austria and Switzerland. He is currently a planning advisor for the city of Dornbirn and teaches in the Department of Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences (FHS) in St. Gallen. In his work, he places great importance on a building’s specific regional context and its local acceptance. An essential aspect of his designs is establishing relationships between interior spaces and the qualities of the immediate surroundings. This can also be seen in his Sport Centre in Schruns.
