Forest House by COCCO Arquitectos

This plot of land is located in a forested area. Its sloping situation opens up a view over the lush vegetation surrounding the parcel. The area to be built up was determined from the decision to keep all the existing trees on the plot. However, the position of the trees made the sunlight too stark outside the house, so the architects decided to divide the house in two: the first volume contains only private bedrooms, and the second a communal dining and living area. The raised roof slab of one house enhances the view from inside over the surrounding landscape. The rooftop terrace of the other house offers a perfect place to spend time during both day and night.
A certain tension arises from the weight of the concrete roof constructions combined with the extensive glazing. The white paint and yellow brick create a façade whose roughness is in harmony with the powerful natural surroundings.
