Walls of wood. AME-LOT by Malka Architects

There is something odd but interesting about this proposal to re-clad a building in Paris using wooden pallet bases. At one level it would be easy enough to dismiss the idea as a PR stunt, but that would be a mistake. A researcher, Guillermo Guzman at the University of Nottingham, has secured funding to explore the use of pallets to construct sustainable buildings in developing countries.
In Paris it appears that Malka Architects are using the pallets as a cladding and shading device – although the proposal is vague. Guillermo Guzman proposes to investigate the pallets to create inexpensive walls and construction systems that are also structural.
