The new building is the first school building in the canton of Bern to be certified according to the Swiss Minergie-A-ECO standard. Wood plays a major role in the new building designed by architects Rollimarchini and Wahlirüefli, including in the cloakrooms and storage areas in the entrance area. These much-used surfaces have also been powder coated to make them robust and durable. The joinery responsible for the interior design opted for an extra robust variant of the IGP-Rapid powder coating. According to IGP, powder-coated wooden parts are scratch-resistant, relatively insensitive to moisture and easy to clean. Moreover, they are free of pollutants and do not emit harmful fumes, as no solvents are used. IGP-Rapid low-temperature powder coatings are suitable for coating solid wood as well as MDF, HDF and other wood composites.
