Light for Daily Life – Editorial Detail 10.2022

Our October issue is all about light and interiors. PPAG’s school in Vienna brings daylight into deep cluster spaces to foster daily well-­being. At the new mosque in Ljubljana by Bevk Perović Arhitekti, the glass facade is covered by a steel lattice, which filters sunlight into the interior. Meanwhile, Mario Cucinella has made skillful use of artificial lighting at his new church in Calabria. Voluminous folds of translucent fabric act as diffusers for an almost ­mystical ambiance. For the underground metro stations in Karlsruhe, Ingo Maurer’s team made the electrical lines the central motif of their lighting concept. And architects Allmann Sattler Wappner transformed the tunnel-like platforms into bright cathedrals of light.
