Teshima Art Museum

Like a big drop of white concrete, the museum is embedded in the hilly landscape bordering the steep coastline of the island of Teshima. The white shell of concrete composed of free curves, exquisitely blurring the border between art and architecture, was realised by Ryue Nishizawa in close collaboration with the artist Rei Naito. A definite attraction for the culturally aware, Teshima Art Museum is intended to contribute to the revitalisation of the island, which suffered from an industrial waste scandal in the 1980s.
