Hotel ohne ökologischen Fußabdruck in Ludwigsburg
From outside, it is impossible to discern that this building consists primarily of wood. White fibre-cement shingles and the metal roof, likewise white, conceal the prefabricated wooden modules that accommodate 55 guest rooms. Inside, the wood surfaces are exposed and create a warm atmosphere. Only the ground floor and cellar are made of concrete. However, this carbon-intensive building material is compensated with the use of 440 m3 of wood. A district heating plant that operates with wood from the region, as well as a municipal photovoltaic system, create a positive carbon balance in the hotel’s technical installations.
VON M has its headquarters in Stuttgart and is directed by Matthias Siegert and Dennis Mueller. The team of architects lay great value on an interdisciplinary approach and a reduction to the essentials in order to create holistic, clear and simple solutions. The studio’s projects range from classic structural engineering to interior design to spatial communication. Over the past few years, the studio has realized residential buildings, implemented projects for cultural institutions and public clients, and worked on many existing buildings as well.
