The large roof comprises nearly 12 000 glass blocks. For its energy efficient renovation, Itten+Brechbühl and the glass-concrete experts of Semadeni developed a new roof structure matching current insulation standards.

The new square extension seamlessly joins the existing building, which is historically listed.
The translucent facade elements allow ample daylight to pass through. They provide insulation, are efficient, and can be replaced simply – an ideal solution for changing uses.
On the entrance side of the spinning factory, large glazed surfaces and new doors indicate the new function. The service bridge, previously the connection between the halls and the adjacent old building, was severed.
