  • The Olympic Village is designed to be a model of sustainability. By 2026, it will house 6000 residents and employ another 6000. Whether its location between the lower-income commune of Saint Denis
and the wealthier districts on the west bank of the Seine will foster social mixing remains to be seen.

  • The Saint Denis Pleyel station, designed by Kengo Kuma, is the first and largest of 68 new metro stations, and will open before the Games. The Franchissement Urbain Pleyel bridge by Marc Mimram spans the 300 m rail yard to the Stade de France, supporting three buildings with offices, restaurants, and shops. At the Villejuif Gustave Roussy interchange by Dominique Perrault, lines 14 and 15 intersect 50 m below ground. From 2025, it will serve 100,000 passengers daily.
