Resembling a bridge, the scaly armour of the UCCA Clay Museum spans across the passageways to the neighbouring buildings. Where this structure touches the ground, Kengo Kuma & Associates arranged shallow water basins.
The volume comprises 730 beds and is structured into eight inter connected houses. Pergolas, trees, and roof terraces accentuate its courtyards.
The house, at the fringe of the Mallorcan municipality of Puig­punyent, home to 2000 residents, contains six subsidised apartments accessed by two entrances.
The building impresses with its minimalist, modern architecture and sustainability. Its geometry and wooden facade allow it to blend into the landscape.
