The neighbouring laboratory building for the same client required flexibility of use. The newly built office structure Hortus focuses on sustainability.
The translucent facade elements allow ample daylight to pass through. They provide insulation, are efficient, and can be replaced simply – an ideal solution for changing uses.
The roof surface covering 62 × 89 m is oriented to the cardinal directions. The field containing 5488 skylights covers the prayer hall and is rotated by 17°, precisely facing Mecca.
