Smith Mordak studierte Architektur, Ingenieurwesen und Umweltökonomie und arbeitet heute als Director of Sustainability and Physics beim Ingenieurbüro Buro Happold in London. Daneben ist Smith Redaktionsmitglied des Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy von C40 Cities und Research Fellow am Center for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity.
