The city centre of Prenzlau (Brandenburg) consists primarily of public buildings and apartment blocks owned by municipal and cooperative housing associations. These buildings will be refurbished in the course of the pilot project. Furthermore, the municipality is planning to upgrade the existing district heating and to integrate an increasing amount of regional energy sources into the network.
