Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT, Sulzbach near Saarbrücken A B The Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT has occupied various facilities in a former shirt factory building dating from 1969 since 1994. Initial renovations were carried out in 2002 and 2008. To ensure the site's long-term viability, further conversion and expansion were necessary. A design was sought that would enhance the industrial complex and establish it as a landmark for biotechnology, biobanking, and cryotechnology.
