Can the design process be handed over to computers? No, that is not possible, of course. Within certain predefined parameters, however, computer programs can be of great help in developing variations on a theme and in providing data for the production of models and prototypes (parametric design). As an example of this, a pavilion has been constructed from a series of ring-like segments, demonstrating how any user can formulate his own customized version with the aid of a "configurator" on the Internet.
