The former Commerzbank highrise building in Düsseldorf features Germany’s first prefabricated element facade. Converting it into a hotel entailed strictly maintaining the existing appearance.
In New Haven in the US state of Connecticut, the architects of Becker + Becker transformed an office building by Marcel Breuer into a hotel. The building now meets the Passive House standard and is supplied to 100 % by solar energy.
A free-standing, radiant yellow U at street level indicates the entrance down to the mezzanine.
