Clyfford Still Museum by Allied Works Architecture

Front elevation Photos: Jeremy Bittermann Providing an intimate relationship with the artistic work of Clyfford Still was the intention of Allied Works Designs when they won an international competition to design a single artist museum in Denver, Colorado. The journey from city to landscaped forecourt, to building and then to gallery is seen as a way of preparing the visitor – helping create the right frame of mind in order to experience the artworks. The building is densely planned and made of richly worked concrete. There are nine light filled galleries each scaled and ordered around the requirements of the actual pieces of art being displayed. The result is a chronological journey through the Life and work of Clyfford Still. Corner shot Entrance shot Atrium shot Gallery shot Night shot
