Exhibition Pavilion

Designed to house touring exhibitions on the theme of addiction and obsessive illness, the structure may be seen as a symbolic expression of the frailty of human life. Water, on the other hand, with its life-giving properties, is a token of stability. It is filled into a number of shallow containers in which the column feet are fixed and serves to stabilize the structure. The freight load is reduced by simply emptying the containers after exhibitions. The two lorries that transport the entire construction form the back of the shell-like pavilion when it is assembled, supporting the ends of the semicircle of aluminium girder elements. The lorries also provide space for an information centre and various events. A translucent membrane roof is drawn over the girders and creates a spectrum of colours when exposed to sunlight. The walls of the pavilion are clad with polycarbonate cellular panels.
