The structure contains six apartments and two small retail units – a higher density than the buildings surrounding it. The openings are distributed freely across the rendered facade, whose surface evokes associations with igneous rock. The wood-aluminium windows open outward and both the caps and the operable sashes have unusually slender frames. Consequently, there is no difference in appearance between fixed and operable glazing. The overall palette is restrained. Neither flashing nor gutters distract from the silhouette. Black render cloaks all external elements; improvements in technology make a slope of up to 26° possible, so it was possible to render all connections and transitions.
