High-Rise Housing Block in Bangkok

In Singapore, where WOHA architects are based, most people live in high-rise housing blocks. The tightly closed facades and air-conditioned internal spaces of these buildings are based largely on Western models, despite the fact that tropical dwellings traditionally seek to exploit every available breath of air. The Met in Bangkok is the most advanced high-rise development WOHA architects have designed for tropical conditions. It reflects specific aspects of the region, the climate and the culture. In the eclectic skyline of the city, the building seems somewhat alien, although it bears no resemblance to ecological structures of Western provenance.
