House in Almelo, Netherlands

On three faces, the house has a double-leaf wall construction. The inner timber frame structure is enclosed by a continuous outer skin of printed glass, the pattern on which filters the daylight entering the house. The windows in the inner skin are visible through the outer glazing only at night by artificial light. The sole opening in this skin is the sheltered entrance zone. The south face is opened up by extensive areas of glazing and is clad with cedar boarding. A conservatory with frameless sliding glazing elements provides a protected sitting area facing on to the garden.
