House in Waldenbuch
( Ludmilla-Wohnbau GmbH)
The house is built on a steeply sloping site. From the access road to the north, it appears to be a two storey structure; from the south, on the valley side, all four storeys are visible. Conceived as a house for a number of generations living together, it has a variable spatial layout. The tower-like form of the design is the outcome of the limited site area. Outwardly, the building is distinguished by a simple rendered façade, galvanized steel members and a large timber-boarded element on the south face. The shallow-pitched roof is visually divided from the main volume of the house by a band below the eaves. The steel balconies suspended from the face of the building also serve as sunscreens for the large areas of glazing.
