A Day at Mia Design Studio
What is it like to work at Mia Design Studio’s new office? The architects lay great value on the inspiring power of nature. They create views of green space and outdoor meeting spaces. The cube with an exposed-concrete look, which is located on a corner lot in the 2nd district of Ho Chi Minh City, is concealed behind a green curtain of hanging tropical plants. It is surrounded by a gravel courtyard where – in a strict grid – bamboo grows in neatly trimmed solitaires. Virtually invisible glass panes divide the outdoor space. The ground floor is also glazed from floor to ceiling, making a fluid transition from indoors to outside. On the upper levels, the communicative character of the entrance level transforms into a concentrated atmosphere: the surrounding window band, which is 60 cm high, offers a view of the neighbouring park through the climbing plants rooted in boxes on the concrete roof.
Mia Design Studio was established in 2003 by Nguyen Hoang Manh. Located in Ho Chi Minh City, the studio currently employs 50 designers, landscape architects, interior designers and technicians.
