Global Brilliance: RIBA International Awards for Excellence 2021

With this global distinction, the Royal Institute of British Architects would like to demonstrate that “well-considered, well-executed and efficient architecture has immense potential to improve life and communities”.

This is the third time that projects from around the world have been nominated for the International Awards for Excellence. The spectrum of works ranges from galleries, museums, infrastructure projects and health facilities. Projects under consideration include the James Simon Gallery by David Chipperfield Architects, the Bogotá University Hospital by El Equipa Mazzanti and Giancarlo Mazzanti and the Lille Langebro bicycle bridge by Wilkinson Eyre, to name just a few of the 16 selected works. All the projects concentrate on forward-looking questions such as added value for local communities, approaches to historical contexts and solutions to current environmental issues.

The jury, which is led by Odile Decq, will announce a limited selection of four projects in September. The ultimate winner will be announced in November 2021.
