Kerstin Thompson Architects

Kerstin Thompson launched her practice in Melbourne in 1994. She is active in the fields of structural engineering, interior architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning. As an adjunct professor, she teaches at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Monash University. The buildings by Kerstin Thompson Architects combine architecture, interiors, and landscape to form a coherent whole. A notable example is the Bundanon Art Museum, including its adjacent guest house, located south of Sydney. The project was recognized with the Sir Zelman Cowen Award in 2022. Considered Australia’s highest award for public buildings, it joins a long line of awards the firm has won in recent years, including several Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) National Awards. For the last three years, the team also worked on renovating the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, which was completed in late 2022.
