Sustainable Root Protection
The top layers of the Soprema Vapro premium bitumen system are FLL-certified root and rhizome resistant and therefore also suitable for ensuring long-term secure green roofs. With a value of less than 1 mg/m2 for root protection washout, the layers are well below the limit value of 47 mg/m2 set by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) and, according to the manufacturer, are also below the values of comparable membranes. The limit value was set by the DIBt following a study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP Holzkirchen in order to exclude any impairment of surface water and groundwater. The membranes can be laid in the open air and planted later. In this way roof areas can be flexibly converted.
