Red Monolith

In Berlin’s Schönefeld district, a three-storey day-care centre with a clinker facade has been developed by Kleyer Koblitz Letzel Freivogel Architekten. Deppe water-struck bricks give the monolithic structure an animated, sensuous surface. The deep reveals of the windows on the inside as well as the wide and round cut-out entrances on the ground floor underline the massive effect of the building, which has a gross floor area of 5,800 m². The red joints underline the homogeneity of the facade, while the relief brickwork in the base and parapet areas lightens its appearance.
