Insulated New Building, Historical Context

In the new Römerforum in Andernach am Rhein, a new building complex and the historical garden were carefully combined. The facades of the new buildings with 35 residential units and a separate hotel complex were realised with the Akurit EPS thermal insulation composite system by Sievert. Panels with a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK were used as insulation material. These were easily attached to the concrete wall using the Akurit SK smoothing and adhesive mortar and the GF reinforcing fabric. Akurit SK smoothing and adhesive mortar was also lightly applied as a top plaster. Here it was used as structural plaster, so that the facade looks like a concrete surface despite the ETICS.

The historical garden is bordered by a complete replica of the town wall, held together by tubag’s Trass-Werksteinmörtel ashlar mortars. The mortars are suitable for the walling, laying and grouting of natural stones. In order to optimise the bonding between the stones and the mortar, the TNH-flex Trass-Naturstein-Haftschlamme bonding slurry was also used for the wall coping.
