Seemless Transitions

A private house in southern Germany was designed by Harter + Kanzler & Partner in harmony with the topography. In order to cover as little of the garden area as possible, the reinforced-concrete structure was pushed into the slope. On the street side the clinker-clad building has a single storey, while on the opposite side two levels merge almost seamlessly with the exterior. The extensive sliding systems ASS 77 PD.SI from Schüco on the garden-side front underline the house’s transparency and brightness. The profiles of the floor-to-ceiling glazing are concealed, which enhances seamless transition of the wall, ceiling and floor to the outside. Roof overhangs and cantilevered balconies continue the lines outdoors, with only the centre posts and vertical profiles remaining visible. The different-width system units can be opened contactlessly.
