Nested Geometry

Ólafur Elíasson and Louis Poulsen have created the OE Quasi Light, a pendant luminaire based on two interlocking and contrasting geometric figures. The outer structure is based on an aluminium frame in the shape of an icosahedron, with 20 equilateral triangles as surfaces, 30 equally long edges and 12 corners. The inner part of the luminaire is made of polycarbonate and is in the shape of a dodecahedron. LEDs are embedded at the corners of the icosahedron, directing the light to the core.
