3D models for structural engineers

The Frilo BIM Connector supports the IFC and SAF formats and graphically displays relevant information such as 3D geometry models and additional property data for structural engineers. Selected offices are already using it as a prototype, and by the end of 2020 most traditional applications should be covered. The new software solution from Frilo, a provider of structural analysis and structural design, organises all the input data of the static calculations of individual structural elements and building components for the digital planning process. It allows the amount of input work for the structural engineer as well as possible error sources to be significantly reduced. The input data for the static calculation is no longer read manually from the architect’s plans, but imported directly from the 3D model. The results can be written back into the overall model as calculation models or verification results, visualised and made available to subsequent contract-work sections. According to Frilo, nothing changes in the familiar workflows.
