"In the past, the car often shaped the city – but in the future, it could be the other way round", said Peter Schwarzenbauer, AUDI AG Board Member for Marketing and Sales in his speech at the opening of the platform “Architizer” and the exhibition „Audi Urban Future Award: Project New York“. In 2010, five architectural offices designed concepts for Manhattan’s future, shown at the Biennale in Venice. Their drafts were handed over to five New York City residential architects in order to be proceeded for the „Audi Urban Future Award: Project New York“. The results of this ongoing development – one draft for each district of Manhattan – have now been shown at the Open House Gallery at the „Festival of Ideas for the New City“: a 50-foot interactive model of Manhattan in 2030.
