A 70s icon reinvented: Candle holder bottle by Peter van de Water.

For an Italian restaurant owner in the 1970s, it was almost obligatory to have empty Chianti bottles dripping with candle wax as the key prop to set the scene for an evening service. A Dutch designer Peter van de Water has re-conceived the bottle used as candle holder, in an altogether cleaner, more stylish look, with this witty design. Using just the silhouette of three immediately recognizable wine bottle forms, creates an instant tongue-in-cheek nod to that rather tired tradition of actually using an old dusty bottle. The candle holders are made from 4mm thick black steel with a bottom that is covered in felt to prevent damage to furniture. There is also a glass disk at the bottom that should catch any spilt wax.
